The HUGE bridal party was introduced to Party Like a Rockstar and then the party and bride and groom performed a fabulous choreographed dance to a special mix prepared by DJ Les. They cut their cake to Sweetest Thing by Lauryn Hill and Sweetest by Robin Thicke. Garter songs included Take Your Time by Max a Million, Customer by Raheem and Tik Tok by Kesha. Open dancing featured a mix of Haitian music which is very similar to soca/carnival music. In addition DJ Les played reggae, participation songs and hip hop. The festivities began with a 350 person cake reception at the church following the ceremony. DJ Paul provided music for the 1.5 hour celebration. The party then shifted for about 100 guests to The Shores Resort in Daytona for dinner and dancing. Alex and Chrystal incorporated many Kenyan wedding traditions into their celebration which made it extra special for their 125 guests. The first dance was Spend My Life With You. After the meal, there was a “Gifting Ceremony” where the women present special gifts to the bride and her family. The neat thing about this tradition is that is was full of humor…like when the bride was given an apron to ensure that she cooks fabulous meals for her husband and in-laws. The bride and her dad and groom and mom then danced to Unforgettable. The highlight of the night was when the couple changed into African wedding attire and they re-entered the room as women sang special wedding songs on the microphone and led them in conga line fashion to the dance floor. The bride’s mom has been battling Leukemia and has been very sick over the last few years. So today was not only a celebration of Tim and Karly tying the knot but also a special day for Karly’s mom to see her only daughter walk down the aisle. Our new LED wall uplights are unlike anything offered by our competitors. They are small cubes that are wireless and battery operated. So there are no wires that need taping. Soundwave Owner DJ Les Kopasz is available first come, first serve. In addition, we have highly qualified wedding DJs including our Partner DJ Phil Joeckel, Disney jock with Master Talent Status; DJ Paul Viola; and Ray Vales, our LATIN bilingual specialists (See Staff for details). Our DJs have at least 8 years wedding experience and are certified by the Florida Academy of Mobile Entertainment. Also, each Soundwave DJ only works 1 wedding per day to ensure they are fresh and focused on your celebration!
For your ceremony, your Soundwave DJ will provide all the music beginning with the prelude through recessional, and a mic for the officiant. We can provide additional mics for readers, singers and musicians. Soundwave highly recommends brides enlist the services of a professional wedding coordinator for a flawless ceremony! At the reception, Soundwave will serve as your DJ and Master of Ceremonies. When it comes to dancing, it’s our job to combine the Bride and Groom‚ song requests, along with our creativity, and guests‚ requests to ensure everyone is enjoying your Big Day.

WALL UPLIGHTING 101
OUT DATED PAR CANS – This is a standard par can used to put color on walls or a dance floor. Many DJ and specialty lighting companies still use this out-dated technology today. This type of par can uses large amounts of power and get extremely hot. In order to achieve a desired color to match your room decor, a colored gel is placed on top of the light. If the walls are not white, oftentimes it is a guessing game as to whether a particular gel will yield the desired color. The biggest downfall of par cans is that many times a resort or country club will need to provide a special “power drop” in order to avoid blowing the circuit due to the excessive power required to operate these par cans. Power drops can run on average about $350.
STATE OF ART LED UPLIGHTING - LED is the newest technology in the market for specialty lighting effects. Soundwave has made a major investment in LED Wall Uplighting so that our clients can create that “Platinum Effect” at their wedding reception! We are able to offer our LED lighting at a fraction of the cost that major lighting companies charge since we are already on site dee jaying your wedding.
If you watch “Platinum Weddings” on television, LED lighting is what you are seeing for dance floor lighting and wall uplighting. Soundwave’s LED uplighting is brand new technology that is battery operated and controlled remotely. So there are no wires! Totally green technology! Our LED Uplights provide an array of color options that can be easily changed with a quick hit of a button on the remote. No other specialty lighting company in Orlando offers this technology.
The LED UPLIGHTS pictured above is as powerful as a 300 watt par! This LED Wall uplight when placed at the base of a wall will yield approximately 120 degrees of color on the wall beaming up to the ceiling due to the flat cube shape of the light. Because they are flat cubes, these lights do not yield a “cone” effect of color that LED can style lights project. FORGET FORMAL INTRODUCTIONS…A NEW TREND!
Recently, we worked with E-Events Wedding Planning at the Rosen Shingle Creek for a fabulous wedding celebration for Allison and David Christino. In lieu of traditional introductions, the bride and groom opted for a very chic and modern first dance / formal introduction all perfectly coordinated by E-Events and Soundwave. As the bride and groom began their fist dance, the guests were invited into the reception and gathered around the dance floor. As the dance ended, the bride and groom were surrounded by family and friends as they were introduced as Mr and Mrs Christino! Guests then took their assigned seats and we continued with toasts and prayer. Very chic and unexpected!
REQUESTED MUSIC
When determining ceremony and reception music, be certain to communicate to Soundwave the song, artist AND version you want played. Refer to I-Tunes to sample your songs and provide us with as much information as possible to ensure we provide the correct song on your wedding day. For example, From This Moment by Shania Twain has 3 different versions on I-Tunes. Whereas Canon in D has 200 versions by various artist on I-Tunes.
BEWARE OF YOU TUBE!
Many brides use You Tube as a tool in their wedding planning. Although a great reference, keep in mind DJs CAN NOT download music from You Tube. Many of the remixes you hear on You Tube have been created by DJs and are not released by a record label for resale. Also, in many cases you will hear a song that an individual has released and is trying to get noticed.These include church singers, up and coming bands, etc. These novice artists post their videos and music on You Tube in hopes of getting exposure. If you find a song you like on You Tube, you need to check I-Tunes to see if the song is available. If it is not on I-tunes, more than likely we cannot obtain the song.

Experienced DOCs (day of coordinators) average from $800 – $1200 for their services. But don’t be mistaken by the term “day of.” Quality DOCs offer much more than just day of services. ANNIVERSARY CARDS AT YOUR RECEPTION
This is one of the most creative things we have seen at a reception in quite sometime! The bride and groom placed ‚Anniversary Cards‚ on each table labeled 1st Anniversary, 2nd Anniversary, 10th Anniversary, and so on. The guests were instructed to write an anniversary message to the bride and groom in the blank cards. The guests had a great time writing special messages in the cards that will be opened by the newlyweds each anniversary. What a fabulous way to remember your wedding day each anniversary!
VITAMIN STRING QUARTET
The Vitamin String Quartet takes pop and rock songs and plays them in an instrumental version to the beautiful sounds of a string quartet. They have numerous songs on I-Tunes that you can sample. Their music is deal for ceremonies and dinner music.

DJ LES KOPASZ, WIFE WENDY AND SON DYLAN FAMILY STORY
The Kopasz story began in 1985 in Buffalo, NY, when Les and Wendy began dating in high school. At the time, Wendy was a dedicated Speed Skater traveling the world and was an alternative on the 1988 US Olympic Speed Skating Team…crazy but true!
Like any young couple, we were on and off again throughout our teen years and early 20s. Wendy hung up the speed skates and joined Les at college. Weekends were busy for Les dee jaying at various night clubs throughout Buffalo and Niagara Falls.
In 1994, Les and Wendy finally tied the knot at a beautiful Catholic church ceremony followed by an elegant reception at Samuel’s Grande Manor with 200 of our family, lots of friends and plenty of DJs…of course!
We honeymooned for 6 years while we both pursued careers and Les slowly transitioned from weekend dee jaying to weddings and private parties…the beginning of Soundwave Entertainment! We traveled a lot and lived for Buffalo summers where we boated on the beautiful waterways of the Niagara River and Lake Erie.
Finally parenthood called, and our beautiful son Dylan was born in June 2000 – the first grandchild on both sides! After 9-11, Les’ corporate job moved us to Orlando. Soon after moving to Orlando, Les and Wendy re-established Soundwave Entertainment and Wendy began aggressively marketing our DJ company.
Three years later, Soundwave Entertainment, Orlando, went full time and Les said goodbye to his corporate job. Today Soundwave is a full time business for Les and Wendy and small team of DJs.
Of course our son Dylan is, at least in our eyes, the coolest 8 year old around. Following in our music footsteps, he is an aspiring rock drummer! He takes drum lessons and idolizes RUSH. At the tender age of 7, Dylan witnessed his first concert…RUSH. Now Les and Dylan are gearing up for 3rd row seats at AC/DC in December.
When we are not dee jaying, Les, Wendy, Dylan and our golden retriever Fuzzy can be found on the Butler Chain waterskiing, or in Clearwater boating and swimming with the dolphins at our favorite hangout Shepards!

- At 39, Les Kopasz has been a professional dee jay and emcee since the age of 20. He has provided entertainment throughout Orlando and his hometown Buffalo, NY.
